f1 Night Race Waitering

Over the weekends, I was a waiter for the first F1 night race in Singapore. Prior to the race, I received intense traing which prepared me well for the actual days. My job was simple, I was to refill drinks, interact with the guests, clearing plates, bartend and on the last day, I had to move all the plates, trays, glasswares and such back to the hotel and it was a tough job.

On the first day on the job, 27/09/08. I worked from 3 to 12.30am. I was posted to the Audi suite. It was a rather large room and I was assigned to two tables. The staff there were very helpful in helping a newbie like myself and I soon grasp what had to be done and I actually found joy and fun in serving. Image had to be taken into utmost consideration as we were "spearheading" Singapore's tourism industry and we had many, many guests from all around the world. In the Audi suite, I had the German Ceo's and GM's so I had to be really careful and articulate myself properly.

On the last night, 28/09/08. I started work early in the morning as we had to set up tables and prepare the suite in time for afternoon tea. I started work at 10am and i ended at 3am in the morning. This time I was posted to the Pico suite. Pico is a local company that had the task of designing, overseeing and building the grandstands and other important places in the F1 area. I had tremondous difficulties in the suite as we had a full house later in the evening and we had to be constantly clearing plates, refilling drinks, getting ice cream for the guests and running all over the place maknig sure everything is alright.

Overall, I truly enjoyed myself despite only having 4 hours of sleep each night. Given an oppourtunity, I will defitnetely do this again as I found joy in serving people.

F1

I registered to volunteer for the F1 race, I will be a waiter and I will be serving people whom are important. I just had my training today for 2hours. I learnt how to courteous, basic etiquettes and other important points on how to be a good waiter. This Saturday and Sunday, I will be sent to a wedding banquet dinner to practice the serving skill and gain some experience prior to the F1 race. I REALLY can't wait and I'm super excited.
